China Airlines and Mandarin Airlines Win the CAA 2014 Golden Wing Awards
Back to Category Print this page

The Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA) presented China Airlines and Mandarin Airlines with the 2014 Golden Wing Awards in the “International and Cross-Strait Routes” and “Domestic Scheduled Routes categories on (1/20). The awards were received by Chairman Sun Huang-Hsiang of China Airlines and Chairman Lin Peng-Liang on behalf of their respective airlines.

The CAA has been conducting assessments of civil aviation operations and services since 1998 to ensure compliance with the air transport management system. The assessments are based on objective quantifiable standards and have brought about continued service improvements in the civil aviation industry. For 2014 the “International and Cross-Strait Routes” category were scored on the following areas: “Flight Safety Management”, “Flight Reliability”, “Schedule Execution”, “Customer Feedback”, “Service Quality”, “Information Accuracy”, “Airport Activities” and “Policy Support”.

China Airlines has received recognition from many international aviation organizations for its improvements in flight safety. In 2005, China Airlines became the first airline in Taiwan to repeatedly pass the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) with zero defects and received the highest safety rating of 7 stars from AirlineRatings in Australia.

In 2009 the Safety Management System (SMS) was introduced by China Airlines. SMS is a flight safety management system developed to meet requirements of International Civil Aviation Organization, International Air Transport Association and the CAA. It minimizes operational risks through the systematic management of flight, maintenance and ground services.

As part of continued improvements in flight training, China Airlines also set up the Integrated Pilot Training System (IPTS) where experts and trained observers participate throughout the entire flight to observe and collect the flight safety threats or potential for negligence encountered by flight crews in the air. Professional statistical analysis and evaluation are then used to provide recommendations on operational improvements that enhance flight safety.

China Airlines received 14 international and domestic awards and recognitions in 2014 including:
The international grand trophy at the Rose Parade in the U.S., “ISO 14001 Expansion of Environmental Management System Certification”, “ISO 50001 Energy Management System Certification”, “EPIF 2014 International Green Classics Award”, the Business Next “Super Green” Judges’ Award for the third consecutive year and first prize in the “Green Brand Survey”, 1st place in the “Young Generation Brand Survey”, Reader’s Digest “2014 Trusted Brands Survey Gold Medal” for airlines in Taiwan, Global Traveler “Wines on the Wing” awards, the “2014 Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Award”, the Golden Pin Design Award (Design of the Year Award for the China Airlines next-generation cabin on the new 777 aircraft), and the Global Traveler award for “Best Airline in North Asia”.

China Airlines is one of the most trusted brands among the younger generation in Taiwan. The number of applicants for air and ground service positions every year is growing every year and leads the rest of the aviation industry in Taiwan. China Airlines will be recruiting for various openings in 2015 as well so please pay close attention to the recruiting information on the China Airlines website.
