Asian Pacific Americans today in the fields of law and politics have unparalleled opportunities that continue to expand with each successive year and generation of leaders. These opportunities did not come easily, and the giants who came before us struggled to establish a foundation upon which our communities have been built. As a result, we now have both the privilege and responsibility to ensure that we do not remain complacent, but rather use our collective talents and skills to work towards improving our society for ourselves and future generations.
The mission of our fourth annual conference is to challenge and inspire all of us to get involved and channel our energies towards this goal. Our hope is that by bringing together speakers and attendees, we will be able to equip and empower the Asian Pacific American community by sharing information about important issues facing our community and providing opportunities to work on those issues.
Each session will present opportunities for students and other participants to engage in small group discussion with others on the topic, with session speakers joining in these conversations. In addition, there will be opportunities for students to get engaged and learn more following each session.
We are also pleased to announce that we will be partnering with Fordham Law School’s APALSA, which is particularly excited to host a session on Entrepreneurship at the conference. Similarly, we will be partnering with Columbia’s South Asian Law Student Association (SALSA) and Society for Korean Legal Studies (SKLS) to host sessions as well.
Finally, the Asian American Legal Defense Fund (AALDEF)’s RAISE (Revolutionizing Asian American Immigrant Stories) will be presenting a workshop on Asian American identity in which all conference attendees will be able to participate.
We have put a lot of work into our conference, and we are excited to see it in action. We look forward to seeing you soon!
