TOGETHER FOR 3.11
FOURTH ANNIVERSARY MEMORIAL
FOR JAPAN’S EARTHQUAKE AND TSUNAMI VICTIMS
Do you still remember March 11, 2011, and the devastating shock and sorrow that hit Japan? Four years have already passed since the Great East Japan Earthquake shook the Tohoku region. Today life has resumed in some cities of Tohoku, yet over 80,000 people still live in temporary housing. And while the land is being prepared for redevelopment in the destroyed coastal areas, miles and miles of landscape remain bleak and desolate. In the affected areas, we hear many voices saying “reconstruction has just begun” or “recovery is merely the first step.” So today, let us come together again, listen to those voices through videos, and send our prayers again to the survivors and the souls who were lost. This year, Ms. Mariko Hata, a Japanese singer-songwriter, and a chorus group from Japan will join us to sing “Heroes 2011, Japan.” Our message is, “We have not forgotten you. Together we will overcome these obstacles and help Japan recover.”
– SIDE BY SIDE – Let us join our hearts TOGETHER!
