Sunhwa Chung/Ko-Ryo Dance Theater performs in The Series on Friday March 6th, 2015.

Sunwha Chung, Choreographer and Artistic Director of Sunhwa Chung/Ko-Ryo Dance Theater presents ‘동행: Life is Every Day II’, a deeply personal piece which speaks about her life and experiences since coming to The United States. Starting with her arrival in the winter of 1994, the piece takes a look at the need to retain close ties to one’s roots while gaining the courage to explore new cultural ideas. These cultural ideas include taking a chance on developing a stronger sense of self provided by a fertile new environment, in this instance, The United States of America.

‘동행: Life is Every Day II’ highlights bits of Ms. Chung’s story as a visiting student who went through great personal and spiritual growth in a foreign land before coming full circle with a greater understanding of what it is to be herself and an acceptance that it is possible to not only be a Korean in America, but a Korean American.

This gripping dance theatre piece will speak directly to the heart of anyone who has ever dared to stake their claim on finding a new place to call home.
