This year marks the 70th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and the United Nations will have conferences that discuss revising the Treaty on the Non Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons. On this occasion a live concert WITH LOVE to Hiroshima and Nagasaki: A Concert for Disarmament will be held. The performers and guests include the Choir for Hibakusha (victims of atomic bombs) “Sunflower”, the choir team of Fiorello H. La Guardia High School, DJ Spooky and Sam Sadigursky with hibakusha Setsuko Thurlow, Keiko Sasamori and Yasuaki Yamashita. Also, Masaaki Tanokura, Concertmaster of Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra, will play “Hibaku Violin” that survivied the A-bomb in Hiroshima. Produced by Youth Arts New York’s Hibakusha Stories Initiative and the New York Society for Ethical Culture in collaboration with Peace Boat US, the concert celebrates the activities of atomic bomb victims for world peace and aims to promote disarmament and non proliferation of nuclear weapons.
