Directors Guild of America, in New York City. (110 W 57th St, New York, NY).
To celebrate the nomination of Malan Breton – A Journey to Taiwan, for best short subject documentary film, by the NYC International Film Festival.
Taiwanese designer, Malan Breton, born in the bustling city of Taipei, has become internationally well known for his beautiful, one-of-a-kind, Runway and Red Carpet creations, served up to lots of well-bred, stylish women and men. And, just like many of his clients, Breton is movie- star good-looking, intelligent, cultured, soft spoken and cool; just like a hip, young Royal Pasha (一個時髦、 年輕的皇家巴沙,as they say in Taiwanese).
Here, in this documentary, Breton lifts the veil on his recent and most uniquely inspirational journey to his homeland, as he talks one to one about his knowledge of; his deeply intense love affair with the country of his birth; his thoughts and desires; recollections of the special sights, senses, sounds, colors, beauty of ancient objets d’art, et al, of a most unique city and equally lush countryside.
For Breton, the combination of Taiwan’s sensual and mysterious places, people and things have all come together full-circle, as a sublime inspiration; his raison d’etre, for the decidedly luxurious, embellished and regal, Spring/Summer 2015 women’s and men’s collection, aptly dubbed, “A Journey To Taiwan”. All depicted in this documentary. For more: http://www.nyciff.com/schedules/a-journey-to-taiwan
