My Love My Bride is a remake of the hit 1990 romantic comedy of the same name, which won over audiences more than two decades ago with its character driven attempt to offer a realistic portrayal of love and marriage. Director LIM Chan-sang (The President’s Barber) steps into the shoes of LEE Myung-se (Nowhere to Hide), with the roles made famous by PARK Joong-hoon and late CHOI Jin-sil being taken on by popular stars JO Jung-suk (The Face Reader) and SHIN Min-a (The Naked Kitchen). The combination proved a winning one, striking a cord with the local audience, and resulting in over two million admissions at the box office.
The Korean Cultural Service NY and Asia Society are proud to co-present the third series of Korean Movie Night New York (KMN) specially curated for the summer— Summer Edition! The six films have been chosen to showcase a range of new films including bubbly romantic comedies (My Love My Bride, Marriage Blue), nostalgic dramas (C’est Si Bon, Chronicle of a Blood Merchant), a scandalous romantic thriller (Scarlet Innocence), and of course, just a downright silly action-comedy (Detective K: Secret of the Lost Island). Whether you’re looking to cool off or heat things up, there’s certainly something for everyone in this fun, mixed bag of the newest films!
All screenings take place at Asia Society, 725 Park Avenue at 70th Street, New York City.
All events are free admission, first come, first served.
