National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum
25 Main Street, Cooperstown, NY 13326
On Saturday, July 4th at 1pm, the Hall of Fame will welcome author Robert Fitts to talk about his new book, Mashi: The Unfulfilled Baseball Dreams of Masanori Murakami, the First Japanese Major Leaguer. Joining Robert in this special program will be Masanori Murakami.
Masanori Murakami, the first Japanese player in major league history, pitched for two seasons with the San Francisco Giants, but became homesick for his native Japan, leading to his sudden and controversial return to the Far East. Veteran author Robert Fitts, an expert on Japanese baseball, examines the life of a baseball pioneer in this authorized biography. As part of this special Fourth of July program, both Murakami and Fitts will host a presentation in the Bullpen Theater before signing copies of their new book.
