Prospect Park Bandshell
In this mesmerizing world premiere, the artist CLIFFORD ROSS teams up with NYC-based chamber ensemble ORCHESTRA OF ST LUKE’S to bring us a massive, site-specific, multi-screen installation with a varied and transportive suite of live music. Ross, whose work evokes “profound vitality and pleasure,” (Art in America) has gained notoriety for his ambitious, large-scale endeavors and technological innovations. While developing the piece Harmonium Mountain, he worked with animators to enhance a single high resolution photograph of a landscape with 3D computer-generated elements.
The evening will feature ALAN PIERSON, Conductor; ABIGAIL FISCHER, Mezzo-Soprano; and KRISTA BENNION FENNEY, Violin.
To begin the evening, cellist JEFFREY ZEIGLER of the Kronos Quartet teams up with percussionist ANDY AKIHO and poet ROGER BONAIR-AGARD for a program of Philip Glass, John Zorn, and Paola Prestini.
