Dr. Shuji Nakamura, Professor of Materials at the University of California, Santa Barbara, earned the 2014 Nobel Prize for Physics for his invention of the blue light emitting diode (LED), a result of his tireless devotion to his research in the field of semiconductor technology. In this lecture, he discusses his achievements, his thoughts on innovation in Japan and the U.S., and the effect that Japan’s corporate culture has on its scientists.
