Hello Taiwan: A Musical Showcase and Taiwanese Food Bazaar
Back to Category Print this page

Sunday, October 11  05PM to 09PM
Taiwan Center NY
137-44 Northern Blvd, Flushing, New York 11354

Every year, the Hello Taiwan concert showcases top Taiwanese musical talent to the community. This year, we’re excited to hear from two very special Taiwanese groups as well as a local band that’s already making waves in the music scene. Even better, our Taiwanese Food Bazaar will feature delectable and authentic Taiwanese dishes that you can’t find anywhere else. All proceeds from the event will go to Taiwan’s “Sunshine Social Welfare Foundation.” Good food, good music, and a good cause – what else could you ask for?

The Chairman/
The band has dominated the Taiwan music industry for years. They formed in 1997 and since then, they have released 10 albums and received numerous awards. The Chairman is famed for its particular Taiwanese local rock style, mixing Taiwanese traditional culture and brand new elements.

Pig Head Skin/
Yueh-hsin Chu, better known as Pig Head Skin, has been an icon in Taiwan’s music scene since his ground-breaking sampling-rich album Funny Rap (1994). Many found his satirical lyrics about Taiwanese society hilarious while some found them shocking. Since 2001, Chu has led the band Jesus Rocks! with members of the Youth Ministry Committee of the Presbyterian Church in Taiwan.

9m88 (Joanne Baba)小芭
Born in Taipei in 90’s. She has always been in love with R&B/Hip-hop/Jazz. She came to NY last year as an intern and accidentally performed in Spike Hill that led to her return back to New York. This year she came back as a student of Jazz and will be opening up the concert with DJ Tou Tou, who is also from Taiwan.
