The Global Fashion Capitals Student Fair will be held at The Museum at FIT at the Fashion Institute of Technology. This Fair provides students the opportunity to interact with the museum, international designers, consulates, organizations, the public and each other. Tables will be set up and divided by country and organization. The Confucius Institute for Business at SUNY (CIB) and My Fashion Station, founded by award-winning Chinese actress Mrs. Lan “Lancy” Shi, are pleased to co-host the China table to promote the Chinese fashion industry. Mrs. Lancy Shi will discuss the dynamic nature of China’s fashion and showcase fashions from top Chinese designers. The consulates or organization will present an interactive activity or presentation to showcase/represent their country’s current fashion scene. Activities include: “KOKO,” a Tokyo street style specialist, demonstrating the latest Japanese make-up trends. Turkish Marbling (ebru) artist, Bingül Seviml, presenting an interactive art demonstration. A demonstration on fashion-blogging and street-style photography using Museum at FIT’s Instagram station. An interactive Skype chat with Marjut Uotila, designer for DUSTY, an avant-garde Finnish menswear label. The Museum at FIT student facilitators and CIB interns will serve as volunteers. The Global Fashion Capitals College Fair’s purpose is to educate students on contemporary international fashion scenes.
