Thursday, December 10 7:00pm – 9:00pm
Museum of Chinese in America
215 Centre Street New York, NY 10013
Co-presented with The Center for LGBTQ Studies (CLAGS), CUNY Graduate Center, please join us for the screening of Richard Fung’s video work on LGBTQ Asian Canadian history. Richard Fung’s Dirty Laundry (1996) explores the queer history of nineteenth-century Chinese immigration to Canada, and Rex vs Singh (2008) reveals the plight of two Sikh men entrapped by Vancouver police in 1915 and accused of the crime of sodomy. These two films deepen our understanding of the LGBTQ movement in North America, which will be the focus of a post-screening panel discussion with Rick Lee (Rutgers University) and Lakshman Kalasapudi (SALGA-NYC board member), moderated by Riddhi Sandil (Teachers College).
