The AHL Foundation in partnership with BBCN Bank is pleased to present a six-month commission of artworks by Kira Nam Greene to be on view at the BBCN Bank Manhattan Branch from October 14, 2015 – April 12, 2016. Culinary Patterns: Kira Nam Greene presents vibrant and complex paintings that incorporate patterns, icons, painterly smears with realistic depiction of lush still lives. Greene combines colorful rigidity of patterns from various traditions, both East and West, with the sensuality of food to weave luscious compositions that reference the plurality and dichotomy of being an Asian immigrant woman in America. With references to Dutch still life and collage like dissonance, Greene’s decadent imagery combines divergent styles to build up complex spatial tension that is continually heightened and disrupted. This exhibition is presented as part of AHL Foundation’s Art in the Workplace Program, which exhibits contemporary artwork in the work environment to create greater exposure for talented artists while fostering easier access and support for the arts within the business community. The Art in the Workplace program is presented in collaboration with BBCN Bank with the public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council and additional support from Jason J. Kim Oral Design.
