Keio Light Music Society is one of the largest jazz bands consisting of 15-18 muscians.
The audience can enjoy the powerful sound by sax trombone trumpet-based piano, guitar and drums. From swing jazz represented by Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Glenn Miller; To contemporary music, such as Jim McNeely Maria Schneider, the Keio Light Music Society can play a wide variety of music and has performed more than 100 songs up to date.
The Keio Light Music Society for more than 60 years since its founding in 1946, has produced a number of professional musicians. Japan’s Eiji Kitamura of Clarinet player, who performs around the world; Akira Jimbo of former Cassiopeia; Yuji Ohno,a former member, composed the Lupin Ⅲ II’s theme, and many others continue Keio’s prominent musical legacy.
This prominent jazz band will perform with Hunter College’s Jazz Ensemble, full of aspiring jazz musicians who have toured across the United States performing in Jazz competitions.
