BRIC ARTS
647 Fulton Street, Brooklyn, NY 11217
BRIC is very proud to announce BRIC FLIX, a free film screening and conversation series at BRIC Arts | Media House— offering premieres, shorts, and web series projects, that reflect the excitement, diversity, and creativity of Brooklyn.
BRIC FLIX has partnered with Kickstarter to bring you an exciting evening of crowdfunded films.
We’ll present a selection of crowdfunded films from Brooklyn-based filmmakers such as Kweighbaye Kotee, creator of the Bushwick Diaries and discuss crowdfunding challenges; tips plus the impact that web based platforms have had on film with this month’s partne— Kickstarter.
Film # 1 Forever, Ally—Iyabo Boyd: Forever Ally. Based on a poem, the film follows exchanges between a gay black man named Ronaldo and a recently deceased neighborhood cat named Ally.
Film #2 Sushi Cop—Cooper Troxell: Sushi Cop. On the outskirts of the cosmos, a conveyor-belt sushi restaurant introduces a new roll, only to find intrigue circling every corner. Sushi Cop is short movie set in a classic diner in a lonely corner of the universe. This is a diner-theater murder mystery in space, folks.
Film #3 Bushwick Diaries–Kweighbaye Kotee: The Bushwick Diaries. About an ordinary neighborhood full of extraordinary people during extraordinary times. It is an insider’s perspective of one of America’s most vibrant and culturally rich communities in Brooklyn and my endeavor to capture the spirit of this unique community through the stories of residents from different walks of life.
