Chinese-American Planning Council, Inc.’s mission is to serve the Chinese-American, immigrant and low-income communities in New York City by providing services, skills and resources leading to economic self-sufficiency.
As one of the largest Chinese-based social services agencies in the northeastern United States, the Chinese-American Planning Council, Inc. (CPC) provides culturally sensitive programs for all ages. CPC currently serves over 8,000 people daily through 50+ contracted programs in 33 locations in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens.
CPC is seeking A Operations and Compliance Intern
This internship is an opportunity for a student with exceptional analytic and organizational skills to learn the operations of a medium-sized nonprofit organization. S/he will learn and work closely with the Operations Team on public health management assignments, Medicaid compliance responsibilities, and special projects that support the overall mission of the Chinese-American Planning Council. The intern may also serve as a liaison to various umbrella organizations to which the CPC is a member, to enhance CPC’s advocacy within our organization on a variety of policy issues at the local and state level.
Hours: at least 20 hours/ week
Responsibilities:
- Upkeep CPC’s Medicaid, HIPAA, and general compliance procedures
- Provide staff with Medicaid Compliance training
- Refine current written compliance policies and inter-program auditing procedures
- Assist, develop and implement an agency wide Business Continuity Manual
- Assure quality assurance on food program that serves healthy meals to several childcare centers by conducting meal monitoring
- Attend meetings and represent CPC’s central administration at meetings with various programs and divisions
- Provide administrative support, as needed
Qualifications:
- College-level and graduate students.
- Candidates are asked to verify class standing and/or grade point average.
- Candidates must possess excellent verbal and written communication skill.
- Candidates should also be familiar with Microsoft Office.
- Fluency in Cantonese and/or Mandarins is also helpful but not required.
