Monday Michiru announces her three-month residency at Cameroonian jazz bassist Richard Bona’s Club Bonafide starting on May 7, 2016.
Following her latest release of “Portraits In Time” (Adventure Music, April 15, 2016), a compilation of her works from 2002-2013, songstress and flautist Monday Michiru will be showcasing with the main musical styles that have helped to shape her music. Starting in May, the performances will be on the first Saturday of each month, specifically May 7, June 4 and July 2.
The daughter of famed jazz musicians; Toshiko Akiyoshi and Charlie Mariano, as well as her stepfather Lew Tabackin, Monday easily adapted the language of jazz heard at home into her other musical influences which range from soul to urban club to Brazilian and etc. Explains Monday, “It’s the first time I’m performing consecutively at one club, so I thought I should use this opportunity to focus on a particular style each of those nights.”
Joining her on stage will be Russian pianist Misha Tsiganov, Austrian bassist Hans Glawischnig, Brazilian drummer Adriano Santos, electric bassist Fima Ephron, jazz guitarist Freddie Bryant and more.
