The Japanese American Association of New York will present its 21st art exhibition featuring Japanese and Japanese American artists.
Thirty-six artists will have works on display, including “boxing painter” Ushio Shinohara and his wife, Noriko, who were featured in the Academy Award-nominated documentary Cutie and the Boxer; Mizue Sawano, who currently has an exhibition on view at Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s Conservatory Gallery; photographer George Hirose, who documents New York’s community gardens; Okinawan-born artist Shigeno Ichimura; and Naoto Nakagawa, whose “1,000 Portraits of Hope” is in response to the Tohoku triple disaster of March 11, 2011.
All displayed works are available for purchase, with 50% of the proceeds going to the JAA Charitable Fund.
Exhibition hours are Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
