TWN will teach a one day free Production Workshop for Girls and Women of Immigrant Backgrounds presented by New York Women in Film and Television.
NYWIFT is proud to present a FREE one-time Saturday production workshop on Saturday, May 21st taught by Third World Newsreel for girls and women of all ages (15+) who are immigrants or first-generation Americans. This workshop is a part of our Cultural Immigrant Initiative, Women Directors: Sharing Immigrant Experiences Through Film, and will focus on teaching the basics of documentary story telling and production. Over the course of the one-day workshop, participants will create their own short group documentary, which will be screened alongside Don’t Tell Anyone/No le Digas a Nadie at the Onderdonk House in Ridgewood on June 16.
Topics covered in this workshop include:
• Camera techniques
• Executing interviews
• Shot composition
• Story structure
• Other technical production skills
By the end of this workshop, participants will have a basic understanding of the fundamentals of video production and will have shot a mini-documentary. Participants are also invited to work on the editing of the projects with the Third World Newsreel production teachers.
