As more and more opportunities arise in the U.S. technology sector, there has been an increasing level of interest in U.S. tech ventures among Japanese companies. However, when parties from these two countries get together to do business, they often encounter a sense of “foreignness” during the process and need to establish a level of cultural understanding to bring the transaction to a successful close. This breakfast session will discuss the challenges that arise when Japanese companies invest in the U.S. tech sector, and how they can be handled. The discussion will be led by Orrick attorneys who have significant experience in cross-border M&A transactions involving U.S. tech companies and Japanese companies, joined by U.S. and Japanese corporate representatives who will share their recent unique cross-border, “cross-cultural” experiences.
