The Dragon Boat Festival, also known as Tuen Ng Festival, is a traditional Chinese festival commemorating Qu Yuan, a great poet in the Zhou Dynasty. The festival is celebrated worldwide every 5th day of May on the Lunar calendar. Hong Kong, being Asia’s World City with well-kept Chinese traditions, once again promises an exciting and fun festival for all visitors. Celebrating the 40th anniversary of the International Dragon Boat Races, the Dragon Boat Carnival which takes place from June 10-12, will welcome more than 4,000 passionate paddlers from around the world competing during races in the famous Victoria Harbour. The energetic races will be joined by all day parties during the San Miguel BeerFest, where beers and music further elevates the festivities!
Highlights of this year include:
– Big scale races at the heart of city: The 3 day races will take place in the heart of Hong Kong at Victoria Harbour. More than 4,000 athletes competing for a total of 24 championships.
– Fun and creative race: Paddlers dress up in fancy team ‘uniforms’ trying to attract your attention with unique outfits
– Great music, beers and party: Local and international singers and DJs will grace the stage at the San Miguel BeerFest, to wind down from all the adrenaline of watching the dragon boat races.
