An exciting new musical formation by the Slovenian-born, New York-based saxophonist, arranger and composer, features some of the most promising young musicians on the scene today. Merging the influences from their various native cultures and living environments (the rhythmical complexities of the Balkans, the dancing joy of the South American musical traditions, the vast open plains of South East Europe, and the backbeats of the streets of New York), this dedicated group of musicians strives to create its own unique musical landscape, taking the listener on a trip – physically, mentally, and spiritually.
Jan Kus is an internationally recognized New York-based saxophonist and composer. Besides performing, recording and touring with some of today’s biggest names in jazz (Alex Sipiagin, Jason Palmer, Andy Hunter, Jimmy Heath, Chris Potter, David Binney, Linda Oh, Marko Djordjevic), he performs his original music on a steady basis throughout the Tri-State Area and Europe, as well as in Asia and the Carribean, as the leader of his group – Jan Kus Quartet.
