“Untold Stories from Taiwan”, a screening of two thought-provoking Taiwanese documentaries on the evening of Thursday, March 11th.

The screening will be held from 6:00pm to 7:45pm, and is co-presented by our office and Asian CineVision. Ms. Ho Chao-ti, director of these two films, will be on hand for Q&A following the screening. A reception will then be held and Chinese-style refreshments will be provided.

Ms. Ho is a young female director whose films have already begun to receive substantial international critical acclaim. The two films to be shown represent a fascinating cross-section of her work. The first, “The Gangster’s God” (49 min), records the secretive lives of the men who participate every year in a dazzling tradition during Taiwan’s Lantern Festival. The second, “El Salvador Journal” (54 min), follows the strands of globalization as correspondence with a Taiwanese professor lends support to workers in El Salvador running their own factory.
