Wednesday, July 06 07pm to 08:30pm
The Rubin Museum of Art
150 West 17th St., New York, NY 10011
Author Ann Tashi Slater will talk about her Tibetan family history, from 1920s Tibet to twenty-first-century Darjeeling. The event will include a discussion of the friendship between Slater’s great-grandfather, S. W. Laden La, and the Thirteenth Dalai Lama. Through photos, film clips, and readings from Slater’s work, the evening will be a reflection on vanishing traditions, cultural legacy, and the exploration of family history as a modern-day pilgrimage.
A book signing of Slater’s new book Travels Within and Without will take place after the program.
