RESOBOX
41-26 27th St, Long Island City 11101
Hidejiro Honjoh, a rising shamisen star from Japan, performs at the closing event of Yuki Ideguchi’s solo exhibition “Vortex” at Resobox in Queens. This exhibition reflects Ideguchi’s deep sympathy to the Buddhism concept “Shogyo-Mujo”, which teaches that all things are in flux, nothing is permanent and all worldly things are transitory. Surrounded with Ideguchi’s waves and skulls, Honjoh plays traditional and new Japanese pieces with the themes in common with the artist’s works: waves, oracion which used to be sung among hidden Christians in Nagasaki, and “KU NoTe” by Masatora Goya who collaborated with Ideguchi for his video art work, the “Great Ruler”.
The closing event will be held between 7 and 9 pm, and there will be two short performances by Honjoh. Resobox is located at 41-26 27th St, Long Island City, NY 11101. Queensboro Plaza (7, N, Q) or Queens Plaza (E, M, R) is the closest subway station.
Free Admission.
