China Institute is pleased to present a conversation with Mr. John Tsang, Financial Secretary of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. He will discuss the role of Hong Kong as the connector of mainland China to the rest of the world. He will also address Hong Kong’s latest market and business developments.
Mr. Tsang has been serving as Financial Secretary since July 1, 2007. Previous positions include appointments as Director of the Chief Executive’s Office in January 2006, and as Secretary for Commerce, Industry and Technology in August 2003. As a member of the Administrative Service, he served in a number of posts in the Government, including Director General of the London Economic and Trade Office, Commissioner of Customs and Excise, and Permanent Secretary for Housing, Planning and Lands.
Mr. Tsang spent his secondary school years in La Salle College in Hong Kong and Stuyvesant High School in New York City. He pursued his interest in architecture at MIT, and went on to receive a Masters Degree in Bilingual Education from Boston State College, and a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.
