Calling all students, educators, parents, policy makers and allies to join us on October 20th to partake in an community event to raise awareness to #EndSchoolPushout. This event is youth led and is part of the Dignity in Schools Campaign National Week of Action Against Push Out #DSCWoA2016. More info event deails below!
➣ 5PM: Restorative Justice Workshop
Peer Meditation Workshop
School-To-Prison Pipeline Workshops
These workshops are led by students and schools using restorative practices, organized by Teachers Unite and Youth Ministries for Peace and Justice
➣ 6PM: Forum Theater by The Ya-Ya Network and Sistas & Brothas United (SBU): A focus on the issues that students of colors face in schools specifically when it comes to suspensions. Forum theater will create an interactive space between performers and spectators to engage with everyday issues youth face that often lead to suspensions.
There will be other performances by youth and organizations and as well as testimony from community members who have been directly impacted. If you would like to perform a piece (spoken word, song, skit…etc) please contact Arli@yayanetwork.org
