Whitney Museum of American Art Youth Insights Program: Youth Insights (YI) is a free after-school program open to New York City high school students. YI Artists meet at the Whitney on either Wednesday or Thursday afternoons from 4 to 6:30 pm. The program runs January through May 2017. Participation in the program is free and all supplies are provided. Students also receive a one-trip Metro Card each week to travel home from the Whitney. YI provides opportunities for teens to work collaboratively with contemporary artists and Museum staff. Participants discuss art critically, think creatively, and create art and writing inspired by this exchange.
Youth Insights Artists is open to ninth through twelfth grade students. Applicants must attend school in New York City. No prior experience in similar programs is required.
Students must have a teacher/reference fill out the online recommendation form in addition to the online application.
