The Queens Economic Development Corporation is going to wish “Happy Valentine’s Day” to all by operating an 800-square-foot, boutique pop-up shop in Long Island City for five days.
MadeinQueens will be open at 27-24 Queens Plaza South for 20 hours from Feb. 10 through Feb.14. Affectionately referred to as “MiQ,” this retail store will offer local handmade crafts, designer goods, and small batch artisanal food. Attendees can expect to peruse jewelry, chocolate, pottery, cards, flowers, and even hot sauce.
Operation hours will be as follows: Friday, Feb. 10, 4 pm to 8 pm; Saturday, Feb. 11, 11 am to 3pm; Sunday, Feb. 12, 11 am to 3 pm; Monday, Feb. 13, 4 pm to 8 pm; and Tuesday, Feb. 14, 11am to 3 pm.
Plus, local artist Niizeki Hiromi, who is known for her GumHearts, will host special romancethemed workshops on how to make 3D Valentine’s Day cards. There is no fee, but participants are expected to buy one of her cards for $5.
The workshop schedule will be as follows: Friday, Feb. 10, 4:15 to 6 pm and 6:15 pm to 8 pm; Saturday, Feb. 11, 11:15 am to 1 pm and 1:15 pm to 3 pm; and Monday, Feb. 13, 6:15 pm to 8 pm. RSVP is required.
