Pan Asian Rep’s NuWORKS 2017 presents a diverse range of original work from artists exploring different genres and techniques. Two artists are presented in Programs A and B, each of which runs approximately 75 minutes with no intermission.
Pan Asian Repertory Theatre, led by Artistic Producing Director Tisa Chang in its 40th Milestone Season continues its commitment to artists creating new works that explore different genres and techniques with NUWORKS 2017: from comedy, to Butoh dance, to existential drama, and an homage to the art of math, NuWORKS 2017 runs for 6 performances from April 26-30 at the Studio Theatre at Theatre Row (410 W. 42nd Street). Curated by Ernest Abuba, Richard Chang, Tisa Chang, and Damon Chua, with a brief Q&A to follow each performance.
NuWORKS 2017: Comedy, Butoh, Trauma, Math
PROGRAM A (Weds. & Thurs. April 26th & 27th at 7:30 & Sun. April 30that 2:30) stars Lucy Wang’s It Ain’t Easy Being Chinesey and Yokko’s Hide Your Fires – Excerpt of Butoh and texts.
PROGRAM B (Fri.& Sat. April 28th & 29th at 7:30 & Sat. April29th at 2:30)stars Penny Pun’s BLUE, about a husband and wife, and Corrine Yap’s Uniform Convergence, comparing the 19th century Russian Sofia Kovalevskaya and a present-day Asian American math professor.
