Miller Theatre at Columbia University.

MOI’M New York, Inc. (MOI’M) invites all students and working professionals from the New York City metro area to Crossroads 2017 taking place on Saturday, October 14th at Miller Theatre at Columbia University. At a time in life where a fork in the road can seem daunting, the wisdom of those who walked down that path can be of invaluable worth. MOI’M has partnered with Columbia University Korean Graduate Student Association to connect the younger generation with keynote speakers and industry leaders who will share their own experiences during this transition period.

This collaboration is not only an effort of two organizations, but it is an initiative for the community to bring the next generation the resources and inspiration to realize and achieve their dreams. There will be two workshop sessions led by industry professionals where attendees can choose a specific industry to delve into.

Our six distinguished workshop speakers come from a range of industries from finance and fashion to law and technology.

Jeana Chung is a senior executive in fashion with expertise launching new brands, developing fashion apps/technology, and expanding storied brands across borders internationally. She is currently Co-Founder of Made Men and was Director of Licensing at the Camuto Group. Chung is also an advisor for DEV, Redbadge, ERA, and Trendseeder – VCs, accelerators and incubators. Separately in the past couple years, she has been involved in the development of a Korean/US start-up acceleration program for two different VCs funded by the Korean government.

James Lee is Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Parcrest Advisors LLC. In the past decade, he has successfully closed over 20 transactions, totaling approximately $18 billion in aggregate transaction value. Throughout his career, Lee has focused on sourcing, executing, and closing transactions in the automotive, consumer and technology industries. He graduated from Harvard University with a Bachelor’s in Chemistry.

Jinha Lee is an award-winning designer, engineer, entrepreneur and currently the Chief Product Officer and Co-Founder of Spatial, a software company building the foundational experiences for augmented reality. Previously, he founded the Interaction Group at Samsung Electronics, where he led novel product initiatives including smart TV’s and IoT devices. The World Economic Forum named Lee as one of the young global leaders of 2017.

Khee Lee originally pursued pharmacology in college, but after returning from a trip in Mexico post-graduation, he ventured into start-ups. He created two start-ups, ActiveHealth Management and Buzzskin, which were successfully sold and the next step in his career began at Google where he was the Head of National Healthcare Sales and eventually the Head of Agency Business Development. Managing some of the largest deals, Lee eventually left Google to rejoin the start-up world where he is now the Chief Monetization Officer at Kiswe Mobile.

Soeun Lee is the Deputy Director of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) International Court of Arbitration, SICANA Inc., New York. Prior to ICC, she practiced litigation and international arbitration in New York and was selected as New York Metro Super Lawyers Rising Stars for Business Litigation in 2015. Prior to her legal career, she was an active performing and recording artist in the Korean music industry since her debut in 1998.

Suok Noh began his professional career as a Senior Engineer for Allied Signal Aerospace where he led the R&D team, receiving several patents for his creations. After a few years, Noh left aerospace engineering for Wall Street and spent the next 27 years at Goldman Sachs, starting out as a Mortgage Strategist and eventually as Managing Director of the Fixed Income Division. At Goldman Sachs, he spent the early part of his career structuring over $30 billion of asset-backed securities.

After the workshop sessions, the main program will highlight our keynote speaker and two panelists. They are all household names in each of their own fields, but to the Korean-American community, they also represent the aspirational mindset. None of the speakers would be where they are today without taking risks and having faith in their dreams.

Our Keynote Speaker, Hong Seok-cheon (홍석천), is a multi-talented entrepreneur who is a veteran in the Korean entertainment industry with over 20 years of experience. Often appearing in various dramas, sitcoms, variety shows and talk shows, he established a prolific career. Not only in entertainment, but Hong is a successful businessman as he runs nine successful restaurants in the trendy neighborhood of Itaewon in Seoul. He is also very well known as a pioneer for the LGBTQ community in Korea and though he faced massive stigma, he continues to be an active advocate in the industry today.

Keo Lee, our first panelist, is a Creative Executive for International Originals at Netflix and is involved in sourcing international content for the greater Netflix audience. Before joining Netflix, he was an executive at 3AD, Daniel Dae Kim’s film & television production company, and CJ Entertainment, one of Korea’s largest entertainment companies. Prior to CJ Entertainment, Lee was a production coordinator and assistant director based in Seoul. He is a graduate of Columbia University where he received a Bachelor’s in Film.

Tim Jo, our second panelist, is an actor born and raised in Houston, Texas. As an Asian American actor pursuing his dream in Hollywood, his trials and successes were most recently seen on FOX’s baseball drama Pitch, playing Eliot Berger. Prior to that, Jo played the series regular roles of Reggie Jackson on ABC’s alien sitcom The Neighbors and Alex Chang on the TBS 80’s college comedy Glory Daze.

The main program will be followed by a networking opportunity for all guests with the goal of connect the younger generation with the older generation and strengthening the Korean/Korean-American community.

MOI’M has established a strong presence across East Coast Korean communities since early 2013, achieving large-scale networking successes through attendance and performances by top stars of “Hallyu,” the Korean Wave. Aspiring to be the leading Korean Networking Organization in the US and abroad, MOI’M prides itself in organizing events that provide individuals with the opportunity to not only expand their networks, but also be inspired to give back. MOI’M Red Carpet 2016, held last October, was the third Red Carpet event and MOI’M’s fourth signature annual event, following MOI’M Gala 2013: The Red Carpet showcasing Sean (Jinusean) and Lewis Dodley (NY1 News, Anchor), MOI’M Gala 2014: Showtime showcasing Gary (Leessang) and Jung-in, and MOI’M Inception 2015 with Eric Nam (Singer-songwriter) and Lie Sang Bong (Designer).

This past July, MOI’M officially branched out and founded MOI’M Korea. The successful launch of the first event in partnership with Seoul City Council, Global Talent Talk put MOI’M Korea on the map globally. This was a showcase for the Korean audience of what the personal and professional journey of American life and definition of success was through the eyes of our four panelists: Yeong Lim, Jeongsuk Yoo, Do Yoon Kim, and Ji Sung Lim. Following the momentum of the event, the second installment will launch in Korea on October 28, 2017. This synchronized launch of New York and Korea will be another home run; bringing together a community through networking, creativity, entertainment, and most of all, inspiration.
