Agora Gallery presents The New Flux, a group exhibition that features different pictorial practices gathered around the theme of nature in urban life.
The New Flux emphasizes portrayals of nature that are dependent on modern technologies. The works on exhibit often recreate nature as an image—something photographed or screen-grabbed, rather than an object or phenomenon directly perceived.
Taking what is specific to a natural setting—a landscape, a body of water—and showing how it mimics the flow of urban life, The New Flux makes a case that our dependency on nature is just as pervasive as our dependency on technology.
The New Flux: Naturalizing the Art of Painting opens October 20 and runs through November 9, 2017, with an opening reception on Thursday October 26, 2017 6-8 PM. Entrance is free.
