In 1974 Studs Terkel, a Chicago based author and broadcaster, published a book, Working: People Talk About What they Do All Day and How They Feel About What They Do. Working is the musical adaption of Terkel’s book. The show tells the true stories of working class Americans, and how each occupation and person is a building block in the functionality of our society. The show challenges the stereotypes of over thirty occupations that are represented. The musical was written by Stephan Schwartz and Nina Faso, and features music written by: Stephan Schwartz, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Susan Birkenhead, Mary Rodgers, James Taylor, Craig Carnelia, and Micki Grant.
