APAP|NYC offers many opportunities to engage and network with your performing arts colleagues. Plenary events feature inspiring keynote speakers who are charting the future of the industry, and professional development sessions are led by thought leaders and influencers from the field.
The conference provides a platform for those working in performing arts to engage in discussions around pressing current cultural, artistic and professional issues. The gathering draws members of the arts community from around the globe, but also offers events open to the public including free live-streaming of plenaries and many free pre-conference sessions.
What is trans.ACT?
This year’s conference theme focuses on the transformative power of the arts.
We were inspired by the multiplicity and the fluidity of the word “trans” and all its iterations—transformation, transcendence, transdisciplinary, transition, and the importance of transgender artists in our field and communities.
We were moved by the word “ACT” and its various iterations—action, activism, activate, actualize.
We will provide plenary sessions and professional development forums at our annual conference for our attendees to explore and discuss critical issues such as artistry, aesthetics, equity, support for the arts and our evolving industry.
As artists and arts makers, we must embrace our role to engage in the constant and dynamic societal transformation that we are a part of by acknowledging it, reflecting it, discussing it, and leading it.
