United as the 15% & Growing Campaign, over 45 Asian-led or serving community-based organizations will hold the 10th Annual Asian Pacific American City Advocacy Day to call for equitable funding for the Asian Pacific American community. The event will consist of a major press conference and rally, as well as legislative meetings with City Council Members to bring attention to the urgent need to invest in services and programs that ensure economic vitality and protect the most vulnerable Asian Pacific American community members.
WHO: Speakers from the 15% & Growing Campaign, including service providers, clients, and advocates. Nearly 300 members will be present with a representative sampling of New York City’s diverse Asian Pacific American ethnic groups, including East Asian, Southeast Asian, South Asian, and Indo-Caribbean. Community speakers include: Maha Attieh (Arab American Family Support Center), John Choi (Community Advocate), Wayne Ho (Chinese-American Planning Council), Stephanie Lau (CMP), Linda Lee (Korean Community Services), Rehan Mehmood (South Asian Council for Social Services), Khamarin Nhann (Mekong NYC), John Park (MinKwon Center for Community Action), and Aya Tasaki (Womankind).
Other speakers include: Council Member Margaret Chin, Council Member Daniel Dromm, Council Member Peter Koo, Council Member Mark Levine, Council Member Carlos Menchaca, and Council Member Paul Vallone.
