Garment District NYC has announced that Taiwanese master-sculptor Kang Muxiang’s Rebirth will be the upcoming public art installation in Midtown’s Garment District Plazas.
Kang’s monumental embryonic sculptures, created using retired elevator cables from Taipei 101, the world’s tallest green building, will be unveiled on Broadway Thursday, May 17 and on display through mid-Sept., 2018
A native son of Sanyi, a mountain village known as the wood carving capital of Taiwan, Kang began his art career as a traditional woodcarver and gradually evolved into a contemporary sculptor over the past three decades. He will share his art views and the journey of bringing “Rebirth” into being with local audiences.
Admission: This event is free, but advance registration is required.
