Chinatown Arts Week will close with readings by Amy Meng, Bonnie Chau, and Weirong Chu. Join us for a cross-genre night of poetry, fiction, and translation!
Amy Meng holds degrees from Rutgers University and New York University. She is the author of Bridled (Pleiades Press, 2018) and a Kundiman Fellow. Her poetry has appeared in publications including: Gulf Coast, Indiana Review, New England Review, and Narrative Magazine. She currently lives in Brooklyn.
Bonnie Chau is from Southern California, where she ran writing programs at the nonprofit 826LA. She has an MFA in fiction and translation from Columbia University, and has received fellowships from Kundiman, the Fine Arts Work Center, ALTA, and Vermont Studio Center. She works at an independent bookstore in Brooklyn and is assistant web editor at Poets & Writers. Her debut short story collection, All Roads Lead to Blood, was released last month.
Associate Professor Weirong Chu graduated with an MA in English from SUNY Cortland and also an MS from Long Island University. Since his retirement, he became very much interested in translating Chinese classical, especially Tang Dynasty Poems into English with his new unique approach. He is the President of New York Classical Chinese Poetry Art Association which gives two presentations annually at Flushing Public Library, and currently he also lives in Brooklyn.
