UAV Coach Offers Drone Flight Training Classes to Queens, 2,000+ Drone Pilots in NY
Back to Category Print this page

UAV Coach today announced their new in-person drone flight training classes in Queens, NY and multiple locations across 20 states in the U.S. UAV Coach created the 90-minute training class for drone pilots to gain hands-on flight time with an instructor, to practice with intelligent flight modes, and to build knowledge about what to do before, during, and after a flight mission to stay compliant and safe. Custom training is also available for companies looking to train their teams.

Drone education and proper training have never been more essential. President Trump signed the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2018 this past October, implementing new regulations on commercial and recreational drone operators across the country. Violation of FAA regulations could result in significant civil penalties, in some cases as fines up to $20,000. Taking a class with UAV Coach can help ensure your drone flights are compliant and safe.

This class is recommended for a variety of skill levels, because it’s tailored to the student’s skill level and goals. Newcomers to the drone industry who are just getting into flying, experienced drone pilots who want to gain flight confidence and knowledge, and commercial drone pilots who want to professionalize their operations can all benefit from the class.

In-person training is a new addition to UAV Coach’s existing drone training curriculum. Since 2016, the team has been operating Drone Pilot Ground School, a leading Part 107 online test prep course that prepares U.S. drone pilots to pass the FAA Aeronautical Knowledge Test and receive a Remote Pilot Certificate.

“Over the last two years, we’ve helped thousands of pilots get certified through our online test prep course,” says Alan Perlman, UAV Coach CEO & Founder. “And while the FAA doesn’t require flight proficiency as part of their certification process, enough students expressed interest in learning how to manage their sUAS flight operations and getting more comfortable with the DJI software that it made sense for us to start offering in-person flight training classes.”

Students do not need to have their own drone to take the course. UAV Coach’s highly vetted team of instructors provide a DJI Mavic, Phantom, or Inspire drone for the class. Many of the instructors have drone pilot experience in industries such as real estate, construction, and public safety.

“We’re proud of the impressive team of instructors we’ve brought on board,” says Lana Axelrod, UAV Coach Chief Operating Officer. “They’re passionate about the industry and excited to share their knowledge with students.”

During an in-person flight training class, students can expect to:
• Meet with an expert and friendly instructor in a convenient outdoor location, like a park or athletic field
• Learn on a popular DJI drone model provided by the instructor
• Have 30-45 minutes of hands-on flying time to master orientation, basic flight maneuvers and more advanced flight skills
• Walk through the DJI Go 4 app
• Learn how to handle obstacles such as lost GPS, low battery charge or emergencies
• Practice flying under various intelligent flight modes
• Capture photo and video at your flight location
• Understand best practices of being a safe drone pilot
• Ask questions about regulations, software, flight operations management, and more

According to the most recent data available, at least 2,429 certified drone pilots live in New York (FAA 2017 Civil Airmen Statistics). UAV Coach is one of very few companies to offer in-person drone flight training in the Queens and the New York City area. https://uavcoach.com/drone-training/.
