China Institute’s Fashion Design Competition is an annual event showcasing up-and-coming contemporary Chinese designers inspired by Chinese tradition, art, and culture.

Meet the finalists below and join us at China Institute on Saturday, April 6 for a live fashion presentation and awards ceremony! The winning designer receives a $10,000 award and is invited to be the Summer Intern at fashion and lifestyle brand Nicole Miller.

About the event: See the cutting-edge styles produced by leading Chinese design students! Globalization, sustainability, tradition, urbanization: These are some of the forces driving China’s emerging creative class. In a panel discussion on “China Cool: How Next Gen Designers are Defining a New Culture,” fashion execs, influencers and past finalists for the China Institute Fashion Competition will discuss fashion and social change in China.

We will then announce the 2019 Design Competition winner and host a cocktail reception where the finalists will present their collections. The annual competition supports emerging designers by promoting creativity inspired by China’s culture and aesthetics in contemporary, global design.
