Responsibilities include:
ROLE PURPOSE:
Provide portfolio managers with relevant information and recommendations regarding investment attractiveness of Asian Market Financials stocks (banks, brokers, insurers, asset managers, specialty finance). Analyze a company’s position within its industry, sales and profit estimates, projected rates of return on capital, total equity, asset utilization, and leverage. Conducts fundamental analysis of individual companies, focusing on business factors such as; financial performance, competitive industry placement, quality of company management etc. Forecast financial statements; Does in depth valuation analysis.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provides strong consistency and quality in judgment in the field of analysis
- Responsible for conducting complex research studies and end-market analyses
- Builds, updates and maintains detailed financial and valuation models
- Drafts reports/notes on relevant investment themes and breaking news events
- Synthesizes and assesses financial industry data
- Forecasts growth, evaluates competitive position within an industry, determines quality of financial statement information, analyzes potential responses to worst case scenarios
- Selecting stocks for a an analyst team managed fund
Qualifications:
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
- Five (5) or more years experience as an analyst focused on Financial stocks is required (banks, brokers, insurers, asset managers, specialty finance) at an asset manager, hedge fund or investment firm
- Buy side experience preferred
- Asian Markets Financials experience is preferred
- Demonstrable successful track record
MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND CERTIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree in finance, economics, accounting, or related field required
- CFA or MBA preferred and significant direct experience in the Financials Industry
- Foreign language skills – Japanese or Mandarin preferred
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
- Significant travel related to fundamental research required
