Every woman has a different shape and there is not one formula to wear a yukata. Instead, the many elements that make up a woman’s figure are refined into a single expression of harmony and charm.
Workshop members will be introduced to both the traditional Japanese manner of wearing a yukata as well as Masae’s innovative designs including her A-Line, Mermaid and Japanese Festival Woman (insert japanese name). The workshop also includes appropriate hair styling.
You will require the following basic items for the workshop, some of which are available for rental. (Please email any questions.)
浴衣 Summer kimono (yukata)
帯 Obi (belt)
紐 Waist string × 2〜3 available for rental
裾よけ、肌襦袢 undergarments/ slip
伊達締め、帯板 Date tiahtenina (Datezime) Obi board available for rental
A sports bra, rather than a wire bra is recommended to preserve the shape of the yukata.
Masae Satouchi is an instructor of the art of Kitsuke-Kimono dressing. She received her Okudenkoushi-instructor’s license to train Kimono dressers from the renowned international Yamano Kitsuke School. She worked as a Kimono dresser at several large, traditional Japanese festivals including the Kyotos Aoi festival, and at the Gion festival; she created a Modern Yukata (casual Kimono) arrangement.
SPECIAL BONUS: Workshop participants will receive a 15% discount on either a one hour make-up lessor or hairstyling by Masae.
