Here are the “Art Thoughts” of Lianjie:
Pursuing the dream of ink painting for the twenty years has kept me in a constant state of experimentation and self-examination. No matter whether in China or America, past recollections and remote, classical symbols are moving through unique emotional spaces. I am in the passing, floating dust, in love with the natural spirit of that space, where I find a psychological freedom. I work diligently with strong dreams, pursing the struggle between the luminous and the cloudy, establishing a meaningful present with the best of traditional culture.
Sometimes I think living for extended periods in the city is dangerous. I wonder if surrounding my body and self constantly with concrete, without forests, grasslands, mountains or solitude, will only lead to the creation of the vulgar and mundane. It is a frightening possibility in this world of the artificial image. Walking the streets of Manhattan I see clouds and mist between the dark and ice-cold buildings and crowds of people in a piled up rush.
