Asian Media Watch is a not-for-profit grassroots organization dedicated to promoting a diverse, fair, and balanced portrayal of Asian and Pacific Islander Americans (APIA’s) in the media and entertainment industry. We provide news about APIA media portrayals including our on-going effort to monitor television and film for offensive or controversial content, campaign against offensive programming, and promote better APIA media representation. Our objectives are to raise awareness of negative APIA media portrayals, facilitate the open debate and timely response to the broadcast of offensive content, and work proactively to encourage more diverse roles for APIA’s.
Asian Media Access (AMA) is a comprehensive community education agency supporting creative solutions for problems within Asian American & Pacific Islander (AAPI) community through education, media advocacy, information technology and community organizing. Our mission is to “Connect the Disconnected.” We work to promote the use of the media and information technology as an educational and communicative tool, to present AAPI issues and perspectives in the mainstream media, to empower AAPI youth with leadership and media production skills, and to support the AAPI community with equal access to information and services.
The MEDIA ACTION NETWORK FOR ASIAN AMERICANS (MANAA) is the first organization solely dedicated to monitoring all facets of the media – television, motion pictures, print, advertising, radio, etc. – and advocating balanced, sensitive and positive portrayals of Asian Americans.
The Center for Asian American Media (CAAM) is a non-profit organization dedicated to presenting stories that convey the richness and diversity of Asian American experiences to the broadest audience possible. We do this by funding, producing, distributing and exhibiting works in film, television and digital media.
