Often described as Gwen Stefani meets Green Day, PaperDoll’s (紙娃娃) unique blend of rock pop are gathering them friends from all over the globe. PaperDoll band members include Teresa Lee (vocals/keyboard), Patrick Moloney (guitar), Steve Paelet (bass), Chip Thomas (drums).
They’ve appeared on a national commercial for Dayquil, FOX’s Good Day New York, The Today Show, MTV, and a slew of indie films including critically acclaimed The People I’ve Slept With.
Their contagiously peppy video for single If Nothing Happened (also featured in a Vick’s Dayquil commercial) was recently touted by Deli Magazine as a remedy for the Winter Blues. Directed by Hip Hop favorite Court Dunn, the colorful film was featured on youtube’s music page.
Recently, PaperDoll makes a triumphant return from their second tour of China, playing 15 shows in 15 days and conquering five major markets; Shanghai, Beijing, Tianjin, Suzhou, and Hangzhou. The energetic four-piece grabbed TV headlines with record-breaking crowds during the closing of the Shanghai World Expo. They also made history as the final guests on EXPO 360, a show highlighting the best of the World Expo. PaperDoll’s music is currently featured in a NIKE campaign airing in Greater China.
They also just played acoustic sets during AsianInNY’s Lunar New Year Celebration on 2/05/2011 and their music and talents were heard by a room full of music goers. Their performance that night has contributed to the cultural welfare of Chinatown’s residents in the long run since the tragedy of 9/11 that has deeply hurt Chinatown businesses.
