For Fall/Winter 2011, Vivienne Tam’s collection was inspired by 600-year old Kun Opera from China and modernized for every day wear.
The color palette for the most part was dark, with a few pieces in ivory, deep scarlet or enhanced with colorful embroidery of Chinese motifs such as the dragon, stylized wind, fire and clouds. Crystal embellishment on black dresses resulted in shimmery looks and were made more interesting with sculptural shapes in a mix of fabric weights. Tassels and fringe created additional texture for the dark pieces. Functional lace up black boots went surprisingly well with all the outfits.
