www.asianamerican.net

Asian American Net is the first and only web site whose mission is to serve all Asian American communities and to promote and strengthen cultural, educational, and commercial ties between Asia and North America. It is a unique web site in the sense that it endeavors to highlight and promote all the different Asian cultures and peoples as well as the Asian Americans originally from all these countries. This site encourages high school, college, and university students and teachers to learn more about Asia, and reminds Asian Americans of their national and cultural origins of which they can be proud.

www.xonetwork.com

The XO Asian Network was founded in 1998, with the vision of uniting the Asian-American community within the New York area. Since its debut, XO has established itself as the premier purveyor of Asian nightlife with venues at some of Manhattan’s trendiest hot spots. The driving force behind the success of XO is the people we attract—a network of young urbanites from accomplished backgrounds. XO strives to set the standard in entertainment by delivering a variety of unique social events.

www.eurasiannation.com

EurasianNation.com is an online magazine and community for people of mixed Caucasian and Asian descent co-founded by sisters Carmen and Iris Van Kerckhove. In late 2000, then 14-year-old Iris Van Kerckhove started a community site for Eurasians because she felt that her needs as a biracial person were not being met by traditional Asian and Asian-American community sites. In less than a year, Iris found herself with over 200 members. Recognizing how large the potential audience was, Iris decided to expand and improve the site, working with her sister Carmen to relaunch it as EurasianNation in April 2002. Today the site boasts over 3,000 members and is one of the most popular online destinations for mixed race people.

www.mixedmediawatch.com

Mixed Media Watch is a collaborative weblog and grassroots coalition that works to promote more realistic, three-dimensional portrayals of mixed people, couples, families and transracial adoptees in film, television, radio and print media. It is a project spearheaded by Carmen Van Kerckhove of the online magazine EurasianNation.com, and Jen Chau of the community organization Swirl, Inc.. Guest contributors include Eric Wong, Alexandra Silva and Jessica Chen Drammeh. The ideas expressed in the blog do not represent the views of EurasianNation or Swirl, Inc., but rather, the views of the individuals involved in Mixed Media Watch.
