DIFFA National to Introduce 31 Grantees Combating HIV/AIDS Nationwide on November 8

With health care costs on the rise in the United States, individuals with pre-existing conditions face the dilemma in funding life-saving treatment and care. Recognizing the critical role of local nonprofits and community-based organizations in offering a solution to this issue, DIFFA: Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS (DIFFA) grants funds annually to support organizations nationwide that provide education, treatment and prevention to individuals living or at risk of HIV/AIDS. This year, DIFFA will grant $331,500 to 31 organizations dedicated to fighting HIV/AIDS. The Korea Society’s New York Korean Film Festival returns to New York City’s Museum of the Moving Image on November 3 to 5 for its yearly celebration of the best in Korean cinema. This 15th edition of the Festival includes a wide range of genres, with action thrillers, comedies, romance, documentary, social drama, melodrama, and the madcap science fiction and social critique of Bong Joon-ho. The Festival will screen Hong Sang-soo’s Yourself and Yours; a big-screen showing of Okja followed by a live video call with Bong Joon-ho; Park Kwang-hyun’s sensational action thriller set amidst the world of online gaming, Fabricated City; Zhang Lu’s A Quiet Dream, which was the opening night film of the Busan Film Festival; Bamseom Pirates Seoul Inferno, the irreverent documentary about the Korean punk band; and Shin Dong-il’s drama Come, Together. The School of Fashion is pleased to share that the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) has released the CFDA+ 2017 Talent Book which identifies the top design graduates from around the world. The CFDA+ 2017 list spotlights 41 global talents selected from 24 leading fashion institutions. Out of the 41 designers chosen, seven were graduates from the School of Fashion at Academy of Art University in San Francisco, California. From the global community of invited colleges, Academy of Art University had the most talent included in CFDA+ 2017.
